Prior to the day of your move-out, Boxed will contact you to ask about your needs for moving and packing materials, which will ultimately be delivered by a Boxed Brand Ambassador on campus.

Delivery to an alternative location off-campus, or request of a non-complementary pickup day or time, is subject to additional charges.

Your deposit is fully refundable, except in the case where you have taken delivery of complementary moving materials, or if you cancel within 72 hours of your move-out day.

Scheduling in Advance: Non-complimentary drop-off requests must be made at least 7 days in advance of requested pickup days. Boxed reserves the full right and at its sole discretion to deny any request for a specific drop off or pickup date. This will be subject to a ($200 x 2 = $400 fee) for a noncomplimentary move back to the storage unit, and a non-complimentary delivery back on campus. Boxed will be held harmless by the Customer for any consequences as a result of a Customer’s failure to be present for pickup or delivery.

Boxed will use commercially reasonable efforts to abide by agreed upon delivery and pickup times, but in the case where Boxed switches the date or time in good faith, the Customer agrees to continue to pay for the Services provided by Boxed.

Boxed has the right to search for any items if there are concerns that these rules are in breach by a customer. Boxed has the right, at its sole discretion, to refuse to store any package or item.

Customers should not store any items that may inflict damage on the property of others and are liable for any damage that their items cause.

Storing Your Items

A Boxed representative will act as a liaison and supervise the pickup and deliveries made between our customers and third-party contractors or hired by Boxed, but Boxed does not have any liability for any acts or omissions by third-parties. These terms hereby serve as a release of liability to Boxed, whose serves strictly as a liaison between our customers, the third-party moving company, and the third-party owned and managed self-storage facility where the items are housed. Boxed does not represent its company or services as a storage or moving company and will be held harmless in claims relating to Customer goods being picked up and moved to and from the self-storage facility, and any claims while the items are in storage.

Your items will be stored at a third-party owned and operated climate-controlled facility, which provides enhanced ventilation and adequate temperature for most self-storage needs. To the extent that your items were stored in a “College Cart”, your items will remain in that cart until your goods are delivered back to you. The Customer grants Boxed permission to store their belongings at a storage facility chosen at the sole discretion of Boxed.

By agreeing to these terms, the Customer acknowledges that they will not be able to cancel the service at any point after the pickup date and before the drop off date.

Abandonment

In the event of 30 days of late payment from original invoice delivery to the Customer, the Customer is deemed to have abandoned their goods. In this case, Boxed will send an email to all available contacts and use commercially reasonable efforts to notify the customer to cure the impending abandonment of their goods. If Boxed does not receive a response within the next 5 days, Boxed can assume ownership of the abandoned property and will hold the Abandoned goods for another 30 days. If the customer still has no intention to pick up the goods or has not paid their outstanding services balances, Boxed is able to auction, donate, dispose, or sell the abandoned goods.

Access to Residence Hall

Boxed will provide you all supplies and “College Cart” outside of your dwelling, dorm or apartment lobby, but Boxed will not meet you in other interior spaces of your dwelling. Furthermore, it is strictly prohibited for any member of Boxed or its third-party moving services to enter the residence of a customer. It is the Customer’s responsibility to select a pickup and delivery location that accommodates the services that Boxed provides.  If you have an item that you anticipate being unable to move and cannot find assistance in moving, please use the “Contact Us” page of our website to let us know.

Customers are expected to bring their items outside, using a “College Cart” or by other means, and transfer their items to the possession of the third-party moving company. A Boxed representative will be present for this transition but will not physically take part in this transition of possession. Boxed is not liable for the errors or omission of any third-party mover or third-party self-storage owner/operator.

Boxed’s Liability for Lost or Damaged Items

Boxed will have a per-item capped liability of $100 and will be held harmless for claims above this amount. Boxed will not be liable for any cash or cash equivalents, jewelry, damage to electronics, collectables, items made of glass or other fragile materials, valuables worth over $600, improperly packed items, items without external damage, any items not packed into a “Boxed Box” or a “College Cart,” or any goods listed under restricted items. By agreeing to these Terms, the Customer acknowledges that the released value of each cart, box, or item outside a cart or a box, is less than $100. You agree that the released value of all items is no greater than $600 and that Boxed’s liability on all items is $600.

Boxed will have no liability if there isn’t clear physical damage to an item’s exterior, or if the loss or damage wasn’t caused by Boxed, or if the item was not in the custody of Boxed during the loss. Any lost or damaged items must be reported to Boxed within 24 hours of delivery/drop off. If you have a claim for a damaged item, you must email [email protected] with a description of the damage and photographs describing both the original condition of the good prior to pick up and the condition the customer received it in/damaged condition. If you have a claim for a lost item, you must notify a Boxed representative at the time of delivery and fill out the claim form before formally accepting your goods. Customer agrees that that the first claim to any losses coming from this agreement is first against any insurance carried by the Customer or Parent(s).

By agreeing to these terms, the Customer releases any liability of Boxed, and its agents and employees harmless from all costs of processing any claim or defending any claim arising from this agreement. The Customer acknowledges that Boxed is acting solely as a liaison between the customer, a third-party mover, and a third-party owner and operator of storage, and the Customer waives any right to hold Boxed to laws or standards that govern storers, movers, or carriers.
